Sacred Heart Retreat Center - Diocese of Gallup
Rooted in the tradition of the Southwest, and holding to Christian and family values, Sacred Heart Retreat and Conference Center offers and hosts programs in a desert environment of peace and tranquility for people of all ages and faiths.
The center is open to spiritual, educational, cultural, business, and civic groups who are searching for growth in wholeness and holiness.
The Sacred Heart Retreat Center grounds have been truly blessed by God. No matter what the season, the natural beauty is astounding. The center is located on 15 acres of rugged land with lots of outcrops. Chairs and benches are scattered throughout. The Stations of the Cross can be prayed.
The Labyrinth
The labyrinth may be walked at any time, by anyone. There is no fee for walking. Please respect the Holy Ground.
There are three stages of the walk. As you enter from the East and begin the walk, the first stage, there is a letting go of the details of the day and a quieting of the mind called Shedding or Purgation. The second stage is reaching the Center, known as Illumination. It is a place of meditation and encounter with the Divine. Stay as long as you wish. Receive what is there to be received. As you leave, the third stage, Union, is joining God in being an instrument in healing the world. There may be a different experience each time you walk the labyrinth.
