Diocese of Gallup Promise to Protect, Pledge to Heal

The privilege of sharing in the mission of Jesus demands that we act in a way that is in conformity with the attitude and actions of Christ. It is clear from the Gospel that Jesus has deep abiding respect for each person. His whole mission was to free us from sin and make us alive with the very life of God. To be other Christs requires that we nourish this life with the sacraments, reflection of prayer, and regular examinations of conscience on how we live this life in our dealings with one another.

The policies with our Pastoral Code of Ethics intend to aid us in living this life so that we remain faithful and truly exemplify Christian ethics and personal integrity in our relationships with others. While one might assume we all know how to act and treat others, experience has shown otherwise. Abuse or the mistreatment of others must never be condoned by the Church. At the very least, our policies make everyone aware of what is expected of them. No one can ever say they didn't know.
