The Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People is a comprehensive set of procedures established by the USCCB in June 2002 for addressing allegations of sexual abuse of minors and vulnerable adults by persons representing the Catholic Church. The Charter also includes guidelines for reconciliation, healing, accountability, and prevention of future acts of abuse.

Following the guidelines set by the Charter, the Diocese of Gallup is committed to protecting minors and vulnerable adults. The first thing someone should do when suspecting sexual abuse or misconduct against a minor is call the police. After the authorities have been contacted the following diocesan offices may be notified:

If anyone suspects or is aware of the abuse of a minor or a vulnerable adult, they are required to report the abuse immediately. The report can be made directly to Elizabeth Terrill. All contacts will be received in a confidential manner.
